The Bower is close to Canberra and also a convenient stopping point for touring the Sydney Melbourne Coastal route. If you’re considering breaking up your coastal drive between Sydney and Melbourne, a stop at The Bower and a second stop at The Moorings at Metung might be worth considering.
Suburbs nearby are Tomakin, Mossy Point, Jeramadra, Guerilla Bay, Moruya and Rosedale.
You can walk or drive to the beach.
The North Broulee beach is just on 1 km [1/2 mile] from the entrance to The Bower. It’s a fairly easy and level walk but if you want to find the best surf on the day, you might prefer to drive so you can easily check the conditions on both of the Broulee beaches as well as the nearby Barlings, Mackenzies or Malua Bay beaches.
Also. one of our popular walking trails also takes you to the mouth of Candalagan Creek via our bush walking trail and a public reserve which follows the South bank of the creek all the way to the ocean. This walk is approximately 4.5kms round trip.
According to our local eco-guide, “Some of the nicest forest driving can be found not far from the Bower in an area called the Deua River National Park – the park consists of fire trails and creek crossings. I would suggest you check out Diamond Creek Falls and Donalds Creek Gorge, [both will show up on a google search].
The other place is the Tuross River Valley, head south from the Bower to the town of Bodalla and then turn right towards the town of Eurobodalla, here you will find a lovely valley with river crossings and a famous waterfall called Tuross Falls.

What cooking facilities will I have in my Bower ?
Each Bower is designed to be completely self contained with its own private kitchen, equipped with refrigerator, stove, oven, microwave and dishwasher plus a BBQ on the timber deck. Therefore you’re welcome to self cater, plus we can also order in a range of ‘ready to cook’ BBQ hampers, as an additional option.
We also offer a selection of romance packages and picnic hampers, should you prefer. The ‘bowers’ are designed with a full kitchen so guests can self cater … the hamper options are just an extra service that some people [who don’t want to or can’t cook] like to take advantage of.
If you’re pressed for time, there’s an excellent IGA with quality meat and local produce (plus easy parking etc.) about 2kms away from us at Tomakin.

However, as animal lovers ourselves, we can recommend some excellent local pet boarding houses and even pet friendly accommodation that may be better suited to you and your best friend[s].

The Bower is designed for couples [to have a break from the kids] and therefore is not suitable for children.
Increasingly, over the years, our guests [and even those who have kids of their own] have said to us ‘The Bower is a place for us to escape from the kids, and everybody else’s kids !’.
We can however, recommend some excellent kid friendly alternative accommodation options. We can even recommend a local babysitter who can give you ‘child-free’ nights [at least] while you’re staying at The Bower.
In saying that, for those with infants, [in arms], we appreciate they’re a bit difficult to separate from their Mum’s so as long as you have their own portable cot/bassinet and other required equipment etc. we are quite happy to give Mums with a ‘babe in arms’ a break at The Bower.
