🌿 The Gentle Art of Forest Bathing: A Soulful Experience on the South Coast
At The Bower, we know firsthand how nature helps us slow down, breathe deeper, and reconnect—with ourselves and with each other.
But did you know there’s a practice that helps you take that connection even further?
It’s called forest bathing, and it’s one of the most grounding, soul-restoring experiences you can enjoy on the NSW South Coast.
Forest bathing—Shinrin-Yoku in Japanese—is the art of immersing yourself in nature with all five senses.
🧘♀️ It’s not exercise.
🚶 It’s not a bushwalk.
✨ It’s an invitation to slow down, feel more, and let nature work its quiet magic.
Guided forest bathing walks involve a series of simple, sensory-based activities—called invitations—that help you reconnect with the forest around you.
It can include forest bathing, ocean bathing, river bathing, sun bathing and wi d bathing and bird song bathing, moon bathing, star bathing, dragonfly bathing and even cicada bathing …. and all of nature bathing
Some exponents prefer the term re-earthing, or just earthing. Or nature connection. Body mind heart soul spirit.
It’s gentle, accessible, and often described as a form of natural therapy for the nervous system.
Many of our guests tell us they come to The Bower to get away from the noise. To switch off. To reconnect.
That’s exactly what forest bathing offers.
Whether you’re here for a special anniversary, a romantic getaway, or just a much-needed reset, adding a forest bathing walk to your itinerary will only deepen that sense of escape.
And best of all, no prior experience is needed—just a willingness to slow down and let the forest do its thing.
